Why Get Trained On M2M Devices?

Imagine that your team of technicians is working on a critical process using an M2M device. They will need to perform both standard procedures and troubleshooting procedures. What if they need guidance on a specific step where they seem to be getting stuck? Of course, they can contact IMB Enterprises, and we will be glad to extend our support. However, we want to train your team on both standard and specific operating procedures, so that not a single critical second is spent on researching a resolution or getting help. Saving time will save your cost and bring down the operational risks significantly.

How Will Training Help?

Besides providing your team an overview of the features and technical specifications of M2M devices, we will specifically train you on standard and troubleshooting procedures, which will follow the natural sequence of device operation. For example, after the training, you will be able to perform all the required steps to:

  • Activate an M2M device on a cellular data network of your choice
  • Install the M2M hardware
  • Configure M2M device
  • Perform operational procedures using the USB interface
  • Manage data communication in different host modes
  • Work with the IP manager
  • Configure the M2M device at the polling host for Modbus on UDP
  • Work with SNMP

What is the Training Solution?

Our training solution is a Web-based program using state-of-the-art e-learning platform and methodologies. This online program will train you on different aspects and procedures, using established checkpoints of assessing proficiency. You will have access to a text/video/animation/audio based tutorial that will cover all critical procedures and features.

Why Online Training?

  • Eliminates Geographical barriers
  • Learning is self-paced - you can speed up or slow down as required
  • Learning is self-directed, allowing you to choose content and tools appropriate to your differing interests, needs, and skill levels
  • 24/7 On-demand access -- makes scheduling easier & allows more people to learn
  • Applies and enhances pedagogical principles that helps learning to be effective
Methodologies Applied

How much we tend to remember is a function of the type of learning we prefer and our level of involvement in the learning. Given a good learning environment (be it online or traditional), most people tend to remember best that which they do - practicing the real thing. So, a key requirement of effective learning is for learners to learn by "doing" (kinesthetically), not just by being "taught" information.

People learn by a combination of the following ways:

  • Reading (visual)
  • Listening (auditory)
  • Seeing (visual)
  • Speaking (auditory)
  • Doing (Tactile/Kinesthetic)

The most effective means to accomplish kinesthetic learning are Simulation and Cognitive apprenticeship. The use of simulation for learning has emerged from a practical need to provide learners with hands-on practice, which is provided amply in the training.

The cognitive apprenticeship model suggests the following guidelines for simulations:

  • Identify the processes involved in performing the task,
  • Situate the tasks in an authentic context, and
  • Vary the diversity of the situations.

Keeping these in mind, we have implemented a three-part simulation for each key task that you would need to perform:

  1. Show Me or Demonstration: This would be a self-running animation that would demonstrate all the steps that you must perform in order to complete a key task.
  1. Let Me Try or Guided Practice: This would be a guided practice that would enable you to practice the required task in a controlled, scenario-based simulation. You would need to perform the required steps in the simulation, and would be assisted with remedial feedback until you do the steps correctly.
  1. Test Me or Unguided Practice: This would again be a controlled, scenario-based simulation, except that this would be unguided practice, i.e., the simulation will progress only if you perform each required step correctly.

All these, we are sure, would enable you to understand the device, hook it up properly and perform appropriate software and hardware-related actions with a view to configure, troubleshoot and maintain it.
